The ultimate winner of the Masters has been announced: the winner is Rory Mcllroy
The Masters, along with the British Open, US Open, and PGA Championship, are the four major championship events in the golf industry. The US Masters is held annually at Augusta Golf Club, designed by genius player Bobby Jones. According to tradition, the winner will wear a green jacket representing the champion of the Masters tournament.
On June 19th, Washington time, Northern Irish teenager Rory McIlroy won the 111th US Open Golf Championship with a 16 under par 268. He lamented that while "Wheat" won his first career Grand Slam at the age of 22, what can teenagers and their parents learn from McIlroy's growth trajectory as they embark on the "career" path?
McRoy, born on May 4, 1989, won his third professional championship at the age of 22 years and 46 days. After winning the Best Amateur Player award at the 2007 British Open, he turned professional and won his first championship at the 2009 European Tour - Dubai Desert Elite. In 2010, he also won the Panic Valley Championship at the PGA Tour.
McIlroy said that the first time he truly realized he could win a Grand Slam championship was at the 2010 US Open, when his good friend McDowell won at Pebble Beach. He has since taken the lead at the British Open, PGA Championship, and this year's US Masters, but ultimately missed out on the championship due to a "crash" in one round.
This week in Congressional Village, McIlroy took the lead from start to finish, gradually expanding his lead and setting a record for the lowest score in US Open history, earning a prize of $1.44 million.
